Description
Serve customers at the deli counter by taking orders, slicing meats and cheeses, and preparing sandwiches and salads. Weigh, wrap, label, and price items; handle payments. Maintain stocked, attractive cases and uphold strict food safety and sanitation standards.
  • • Train or assist in training new deli associates.
  • • Greet customers and take deli orders in person and by phone.
  • • Slice meats and cheeses to requested thickness using deli slicers.
  • • Weigh, price, and label products accurately using scales and PLUs.
  • • Prepare made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, and salads per recipes.
  • • Portion, package, and wrap cold cuts, cheeses, and prepared foods for takeout.
  • • Assemble deli trays and party platters according to specifications.
  • • Set up, stock, and merchandise the deli case and service line.
  • • Rotate stock using FIFO and check freshness dates.
  • • Monitor, record, and maintain safe temperatures for hot and cold cases.
  • • Cook or heat simple deli items such as soups and hot sides safely.
  • • Prepare and package grab-and-go salads, sides, and desserts.
  • • Provide ingredient, allergen, and nutrition information to customers.
  • • Brew coffee or tea and fill beverage orders when offered.
  • • Accept payments, make change, and issue receipts at the register.
  • • Balance cash drawers and reconcile sales as assigned.
  • • Clean and sanitize slicers, knives, cutting boards, and counters regularly.
  • • Wash dishes, pans, and utensils; operate dish machines as needed.
  • • Sweep, mop, and keep prep and service areas clean and organized.
  • • Follow handwashing, glove use, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
  • • Monitor and order ingredients, packaging, and supplies; restock as needed.
  • • Receive, inspect, label, and store deliveries to maintain quality and safety.
  • • Date, label, and markdown close-dated items per policy.
  • • Log production, waste, and shrink according to procedures.
  • • Notify supervisors of shortages and coordinate special orders.
  • • Prepare online or call-ahead orders and coordinate pickup.
