Description
Load and unload freight, stock, and materials by hand or with material-handling equipment; stage, secure, and document shipments in warehouses, plants, or on docks.
- • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine loading assignments and equipment needs.
- • Move freight to and from storage areas, docks, and vehicles by hand or using pallet jacks, hand trucks, or forklifts.
- • Load and unload trailers, containers, and delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- • Sort and stage cargo by destination, route, or priority before loading.
- • Attach identifying tags or labels to pallets, containers, or pieces.
- • Record counts, weights, or lot numbers on logs, manifests, or tickets.
- • Assemble, break down, or repair pallets, crates, or skids as needed.
- • Pack, re-pack, and shrink-wrap pallets; replace damaged packaging.
- • Install bracing, padding, dunnage, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage.
- • Attach slings, hooks, or other lifting devices and guide loads when required.
- • Position dock plates, wheel chocks, and restraints; adjust equipment controls as needed.
- • Maintain clean, organized dock and storage areas to protect inventory.
- • Inspect equipment before use and follow safety procedures; report hazards or damage.
