Description
Plan and lead public communications for government or public-facing organizations. Serve as spokesperson, manage media and stakeholder relations, and explain policies, programs, and decisions to the public. Coordinate outreach, issues management, and crisis communications across traditional and digital channels.
  • • Respond to media inquiries or designate appropriate spokespersons and information sources.
  • • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, elected officials, advocacy groups, and partners.
  • • Coordinate production of public information materials, audiovisual content, and public service announcements.
  • • Organize press conferences, town halls, public meetings, and community events.
  • • Analyze organizational objectives and policy priorities to develop public affairs strategies.
  • • Advise executives on emerging issues, stakeholder concerns, and reputational risks.
  • • Collaborate with communications and agency partners to plan multi-channel public information campaigns.
  • • Train officials and subject-matter experts in media interviews and public speaking.
  • • Draft and deliver speeches, talking points, and testimony to advance public affairs goals.
  • • Procure media placements or airtime for public service messaging as needed.
  • • Conduct or commission opinion research and sentiment analysis; brief leadership on findings.
  • • Lead external communications during incidents, emergencies, or controversies in coordination with response teams.
  • • Design outreach campaigns for public safety, health, environmental, or civic initiatives.
  • • Develop materials that explain programs, benefits, and impacts to diverse audiences.
  • • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, and op-eds.
  • • Plan and oversee communications that sustain public, stakeholder, and legislative confidence in the organization.
  • • Produce and edit newsletters, reports, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • • Manage website updates and social media content; ensure accessibility and policy compliance.
