Description
Oversee and coordinate warehouse operations, supervising material handlers and laborers to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, and shipping.
- • Plan shift schedules and assign labor to meet receiving, picking, packing, and shipping volumes.
- • Collaborate with warehouse staff, transportation, and management to resolve operational issues.
- • Review work in process and at completion to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness.
- • Communicate and explain pick tickets, replenishment tasks, and shipping instructions.
- • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, manifests, and WMS records.
- • Inform stakeholders of shipment status, discrepancies, damages, or delays.
- • Determine loading sequences and trailer/container layouts to optimize space and protect freight.
- • Evaluate employee performance and complete performance appraisals.
- • Assist on the floor during peaks or for complex tasks such as cycle counts or hazmat handling.
- • Maintain WMS data, production metrics, timekeeping, and inspection logs.
- • Lead shift huddles and safety meetings to relay updates and expectations.
- • Coach employees on performance, safety practices, and career development.
- • Inspect forklifts, pallet jacks, racking, and safety gear; arrange repairs or service.
- • Address personnel problems, complaints, or grievances and escalate when necessary.
- • Recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, recognition, or disciplinary actions.
- • Assess training needs and provide instruction on SOPs, WMS use, equipment, and safety.
- • Coordinate shipment schedules and carrier pickups; confirm modes and appointment times.
- • Oversee cycle counts and inventory accuracy; investigate and reconcile discrepancies.
- • Estimate labor, equipment, and time requirements based on workload and project plans.
- • Track labor and supply spending and support development of warehouse SOPs and process improvements.
- • Inspect warehouse areas for housekeeping standards, damage, and repair needs.
- • Participate in hiring by screening candidates, interviewing, and onboarding new associates.
- • Manage stock of pallets, packaging materials, and PPE; requisition supplies as needed.
- • Enforce OSHA and company safety policies; conduct audits and ensure incident reporting.
