Description
Directly supervise and coordinate janitors and custodians performing cleaning and sanitizing services in buildings and facilities. Plan schedules, inspect quality, enforce safety and sanitation standards, resolve issues, and manage supplies, equipment, and records.
- • Plan work schedules, routes, and assignments to meet service levels and fluctuating workloads.
- • Brief staff on daily work orders, priorities, and special instructions.
- • Inspect areas during and after cleaning to verify standards are met.
- • Collaborate with cleaners, maintenance, and management to resolve work-related issues.
- • Set cleaning sequences for rooms, floors, and tasks to maximize efficiency and safety.
- • Check chemical labels, dilution ratios, and supply specifications against work orders and safety data sheets.
- • Notify clients or facility departments of completed work, access needs, damages, or issues found.
- • Evaluate employee performance and complete appraisals and coaching notes.
- • Perform or assist with complex tasks such as floor care, carpet extraction, and biohazard cleanup.
- • Maintain records such as attendance, assignments, inspections, inventory, and incident reports.
- • Lead safety talks and reinforce PPE use, chemical handling, and bloodborne pathogen procedures.
- • Counsel employees on work practices, development, and career goals.
- • Inspect cleaning tools and machines for wear and conformance; arrange repair or replacement.
- • Address personnel complaints and conflicts or escalate when needed.
- • Recommend promotions, transfers, scheduling changes, or disciplinary actions.
- • Identify training needs and provide or arrange instruction on methods, equipment, and safety.
- • Coordinate delivery of supplies and linen, and schedule waste removal or recycling pickups.
- • Provide quotes or estimates for special cleanings or project work.
- • Estimate time, staffing, and materials for deep cleans, move-ins, events, or turnovers.
- • Track budgets, monitor labor and supply costs, and support policy and procedure development.
- • Conduct site walkthroughs to assess cleanliness and report maintenance or repair needs.
- • Participate in hiring by reviewing applications, interviewing, and recommending candidates.
- • Monitor inventory; requisition, order, and receive cleaning products and consumables.
- • Enforce OSHA, company, and client safety standards to maintain a safe work environment.
