Description
Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and inventory targets. Sequence and release work orders, balance capacity and materials, and coordinate with operations, procurement, and logistics to ensure on-time completion. Monitor progress, adjust plans for changes or disruptions, and report schedule, cost, and inventory impacts.
  • • Build and maintain the master production schedule using forecasts, orders, and capacity data.
  • • Review sales forecasts, backlog, and work orders to set priorities and due dates.
  • • Sequence jobs and release work orders to departments or work centers.
  • • Balance labor and machine capacity with material availability to optimize throughput.
  • • Revise schedules for engineering changes, shortages, equipment downtime, or rush orders.
  • • Coordinate with production, procurement, engineering, and quality to resolve constraints.
  • • Track work-in-process and schedule adherence; escalate risks to delivery dates.
  • • Arrange or expedite delivery of materials, tooling, or subassemblies to meet the plan.
  • • Communicate schedule commitments and changes to stakeholders and customers as needed.
  • • Record and analyze production data, inventory status, and cycle times to support planning.
  • • Calculate required labor hours, material needs, and manufacturing costs for planned orders.
  • • Prepare and distribute detailed schedules, dispatch lists, and shortage reports.
  • • Compile status reports on production rates, progress to plan, and capacity utilization.
  • • Verify supplier shipment dates and align receipts with production requirements.
  • • Maintain planning files, including work orders, change notices, and cost reports.
  • • Document schedule changes, causes of delays, and impacts to cost and delivery.
  • • Maintain accurate BOMs, routings, and lead times within ERP/MRP for scheduling accuracy.
