Description
Coordinate, plan, and expedite the flow of materials and supplies to meet production and shipping schedules. Responsibilities include analyzing BOMs, MRP/production schedules, and work orders to determine material requirements and priorities; coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to resolve shortages or delays; and maintaining accurate records on inventory levels, usage, costs, and material issues.
- • Inspect incoming materials, documents, and kits to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
- • Review MRP outputs, production schedules, BOMs, and work orders to determine material requirements and priorities.
- • Confer with production, warehouse, and purchasing to assess status, shortages, and required changes.
- • Adjust material plans and allocations for design changes, shortages, backlogs, or interruptions in coordination with planning and engineering.
- • Coordinate with vendors, logistics, and internal teams to schedule deliveries, resolve issues, and eliminate delays.
- • Record material transactions, including receipts, issues, returns, and quality holds.
- • Replenish and maintain inventories through requisitions, transfers, and min/max or reorder point management.
- • Calculate material quantities, lead times, and costs using ERP/MRP and standard pricing.
- • Release and distribute pick lists, kitting lists, and material availability updates to departments.
- • Compile status reports on inventory balances, usage rates, open orders, and progress against schedules.
- • Arrange kitting, staging, and point-of-use delivery to meet build and ship schedules.
- • Contact suppliers to confirm order acknowledgments, ship dates, tracking, and delivery requirements.
- • Maintain inventory, lot/serial, and shipping records, including bills of lading and cost reports.
- • Plan material availability and stocking strategies based on sales forecasts and production plans.
- • Create and maintain material handling instructions, storage locations, and labeling requirements.
- • Prepare and process documentation for purchase orders, transfers, returns, nonconformance, or repair orders.
- • Provide reports and justifications for delays, shortages, or changes to cost or lead-time estimates.
