Description
Plan, coordinate, and expedite the flow of materials to meet production schedules and customer demand. Use MRP/ERP to translate forecasts and work orders into purchase and replenishment plans; collaborate with production, engineering, procurement, and suppliers to set priorities and dates; and report on inventory, shortages, costs, and supply risks.
- • Review forecasts, BOMs, and production plans to determine component and raw material requirements.
- • Run MRP and convert planned orders to purchase or transfer orders per lead times and lot sizes.
- • Prioritize materials by need date and service risk; set and adjust planning parameters.
- • Collaborate with production, procurement, engineering, and logistics to align on material availability and schedule changes.
- • Revise material plans in response to design changes, demand shifts, supplier delays, or quality issues.
- • Liaise with suppliers and 3PLs to confirm acknowledgments, ship dates, quantities, and ASNs; expedite critical parts.
- • Arrange drop shipments, interplant transfers, and prioritized receiving to meet build schedules.
- • Monitor and report inventory levels, usage, days of supply, and excess/obsolete risk.
- • Record material receipts, issues, and variances; maintain accurate item/location balances.
- • Calculate safety stock, reorder points, lead-time coverage, and order quantities.
- • Publish materials availability commits and allocation plans to production and customer service.
- • Compile and distribute status reports on shortages, purchase order progress, and supplier performance.
- • Maintain planning master data in ERP/MRP, including lead times, order modifiers, sourcing, and calendars.
- • Coordinate BOM and item revisions and effective dates with engineering; manage approved substitutions.
- • Prepare and release purchase orders, reschedules, cancellations, and transfer orders.
- • Support NPI and ECN implementation by securing pre-production materials and phase-in/phase-out plans.
- • Document root causes and recovery plans for material delays; communicate cost and schedule impacts.
