Description
Provide administrative and legal support to a magistrate using court procedures and terminology. Prepare and process judicial documents and correspondence, such as orders, warrants, subpoenas, and hearing notices; manage the magistrate's calendar, case files, and courtroom logistics; may assist with legal and procedural research.
  • • Arrange delivery of judicial correspondence, orders, and notices to attorneys, parties, and agencies.
  • • Receive and route calls for chambers; communicate with counsel, agencies, and the clerk's office.
  • • Manage the magistrate's calendar; schedule hearings, conferences, and arraignments.
  • • Prepare and copy case materials, orders, and exhibits.
  • • Organize and maintain chambers files, dockets, and reference materials.
  • • Coordinate with law enforcement, probation, and pretrial services to obtain reports and records for hearings.
  • • Attend court sessions and conferences; record minutes and maintain hearing logs.
  • • Draft routine orders, minute entries, notices, and correspondence for judicial review.
  • • Perform basic legal and procedural research; cite-check rules and authorities as directed.
  • • Compile research findings and case summaries for the magistrate's review.
  • • Prepare and process court forms, warrants, subpoenas, and hearing notices in accordance with statutes and court rules.
  • • Track and process interpreter requests, expert vouchers, and other chambers expenses with the clerk's office.
  • • Proofread and finalize judicial documents for accuracy and compliance before filing and service.
  • • Coordinate courtroom logistics and technology, including remote-hearing links and exhibit management.
