Description
Provide litigation-focused secretarial support to attorneys using legal terminology, court rules, and procedures. Prepare, file, and serve pleadings, discovery, and trial materials; manage dockets and case files; coordinate with courts, clients, and vendors; and assist with legal research and trial preparation.
- • Prepare, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and trial documents.
- • E-file and serve court documents in state and federal courts; arrange service of process.
- • Manage litigation calendars and docket deadlines; monitor court and local rules.
- • Organize and maintain case files, correspondence, evidence, and exhibits.
- • Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, and client or witness meetings.
- • Arrange court reporters, videographers, interpreters, and conference facilities.
- • Assist with discovery collection and productions; index and Bates-stamp documents.
- • Prepare hearing and trial binders, witness kits, exhibit lists, and notebooks.
- • Attend depositions, hearings, or trial as needed to take notes and manage exhibits.
- • Conduct basic legal research and citation checks; pull cases, statutes, and docket records.
- • Draft correspondence, cover letters, and office memoranda.
- • Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel; screen and route calls and emails.
- • Enter attorney time; prepare client bills, expense reports, and handle vendor invoices.
- • Make travel and logistics arrangements for attorneys and witnesses.
