Provide administrative support to attorneys using legal terminology, procedures, and documents. Draft, format, and process legal correspondence and pleadings; manage calendars and case files; coordinate communications and logistics; and assist with basic legal research.
- • Send, track, or arrange delivery of legal correspondence and pleadings to clients, witnesses, and courts.
- • Answer, place, and route telephone calls; take messages.
- • Schedule appointments, hearings, and depositions; manage attorney calendars.
- • Copy, scan, and assemble documents, exhibits, and correspondence.
- • Organize and maintain case files, document management systems, and law library materials.
- • Assist attorneys in collecting records such as employment, medical, and financial documents.
- • Attend client meetings, hearings, or depositions and take notes.
- • Draft and format correspondence, letters, and office memos.
- • Review legal publications and perform database searches to identify relevant laws and decisions.
- • Compile and submit research results and articles to attorneys for review.
- • Complete client and court forms, including accident reports and courtroom or trial requests.
- • Prepare, process, and track invoices; handle basic expense payments.
- • Prepare, proofread, format, and e-file or process legal documents such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, and agreements.
- • Arrange attorney travel and related logistics.
