Description
Provide specialized secretarial support to attorneys using legal terminology and procedures. Prepare, file, and manage legal documents and correspondence; maintain case files and calendars; coordinate communications and logistics; and perform basic legal research.
  • • Prepare, proofread, and process legal documents, including summonses, subpoenas, complaints, motions, appeals, and pretrial agreements.
  • • File legal documents with courts, including e-filing, and track confirmations.
  • • Manage attorneys’ calendars; schedule client meetings, hearings, and depositions; track deadlines.
  • • Mail, courier, or electronically transmit legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials.
  • • Answer, screen, and route telephone calls.
  • • Draft, format, and finalize correspondence and office memos.
  • • Organize and maintain law libraries, documents, and case files, both physical and electronic.
  • • Copy, scan, and assemble pleadings, exhibits, and other materials.
  • • Assist attorneys in collecting information and records, such as employment and medical files.
  • • Attend client interviews, hearings, or depositions to take notes and prepare summaries.
  • • Conduct basic legal research in databases and legal publications; compile and deliver findings to attorneys.
  • • Complete and file forms and applications, such as accident reports and courtroom requests.
  • • Prepare, process, and distribute client invoices and expense payments.
  • • Make travel arrangements for attorneys.
