Liquefied Natural Gas Plant Operator (LNG Plant Operator)
Gas Compressor and Gas Pumping Station OperatorsDescription
Operate and control LNG liquefaction, storage, and transfer systems, including refrigeration compressors, cryogenic pumps, vaporizers, and boil-off gas (BOG) recovery. Monitor and adjust process conditions via DCS to safely produce, store, load, and regasify LNG in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- • Monitor DCS/SCADA trends, gauges, and analyzers for flow, pressure, temperature, levels, and composition across liquefaction, storage, and loading.
- • Adjust setpoints, controllers, and valves to maintain liquefaction rates, product quality, and BOG control.
- • Record feed gas, LNG production, BOG recovery, sendout, and tank levels; reconcile inventories.
- • Operate cryogenic LNG pumps, refrigeration and BOG compressors, and vaporizers/regas units.
- • Log instrument readings, alarms, and operational changes; maintain shift and handover notes.
- • Start up and shut down trains, compressors, pumps, and auxiliary systems per SOPs and permits.
- • Regulate tank and header pressures, vapor return, and compressor suction/discharge using control panels and manual valves.
- • Respond to process upsets by adjusting controls and coordinating field checks, isolations, and corrective actions.
- • Collect LNG, gas, and BOG samples; verify BTU, composition, sulfur, and moisture; coordinate lab analyses.
- • Perform routine maintenance such as filter changeouts, seal and hose inspections, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- • Prepare daily operations, production, energy, and emissions reports; document deviations and actions.
- • Make and verify connections for ship and truck loading arms, transfer hoses, vapor return lines, and nitrogen purges.
- • Maintain safe, ice-free work areas; apply cryogenic PPE, LOTO, permits, and housekeeping standards.
