Description
Install, operate, and service industrial air compressor systems, including electric motor–driven compressors, dryers, receivers, and controls. Monitor pressures, flows, and temperatures; troubleshoot faults; and perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure reliable, clean compressed air.
- • Monitor controller displays, gauges, and meters to track air demand, pressure, temperature, and flow.
- • Adjust regulators, valves, and control settings to maintain specified pressure, dew point, and flow.
- • Read flow meters and energy meters; maintain records of air consumption and compressor output.
- • Operate and test rotary screw, reciprocating, and oil-free compressors, along with dryers, receivers, and filters.
- • Record instrument readings, alarms, and setpoint changes in operating logs or a CMMS.
- • Start and stop compressors, dryers, and condensate systems; open and close isolation valves as needed.
- • Respond to alarms and faults; troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues and correct or escalate.
- • Take compressed air samples and test dew point, oil carryover, and particulates; send samples for lab analysis when required.
- • Perform preventive maintenance: change oil and filters, replace belts, clean coolers, lubricate bearings, and repair leaks.
- • Clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment; replace seals, gaskets, and hoses using hand and power tools.
- • Submit service tickets and daily maintenance reports detailing findings, parts used, and work performed.
- • Install and connect air piping, drains, hoses, and quick couplings to receivers and distribution headers.
- • Maintain clean, safe compressor rooms; manage condensate and follow lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures.
