Description
Coordinate end-to-end movement of domestic and international shipments across air, ocean, rail, and truck. Book carriers, schedule pickups and deliveries, prepare and verify shipping documentation, and ensure compliance with rates, tariffs, and regulations. Track shipments, resolve exceptions, and communicate status to customers and internal teams.
  • • Negotiate and secure carrier capacity and rates for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • • Advise customers and internal teams on shipping options, transit times, and payment terms.
  • • Determine shipment methods and prepare or verify bills of lading, commercial invoices, and other documents.
  • • Calculate freight charges, duties, and accessorials; record shipment weights and costs.
  • • Enter and maintain shipment data in TMS/ERP systems and carrier portals.
  • • Trace delayed or lost shipments and coordinate recovery or reshipment.
  • • Coordinate packing, crating, and labeling requirements with warehouse teams or vendors.
  • • Schedule dock appointments and direct drivers to appropriate doors or staging areas.
  • • Oversee receiving and shipping counts; reconcile discrepancies with purchase orders and invoices.
  • • Communicate load securement and handling requirements to prevent in-transit damage.
  • • Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, and inventory movements.
  • • Coordinate and monitor packing and shipping activities to meet service levels.
  • • Arrange cargo insurance and initiate or support claims when required.
  • • Validate load plans for completeness, weight distribution, and regulatory limits.
  • • Authorize inspections of containers as needed and arrange rework or repack.
  • • Ensure correct labels, HS codes, and shipping instructions are applied to shipments.
  • • Plan routing and mode selection; allocate freight to flights, sailings, or linehauls; coordinate storage as needed.
  • • Coordinate replenishment of shipping and packing supplies with procurement or warehouse.
  • • Arrange specialized crates or equipment for oversized or sensitive items.
  • • Proactively track shipments and provide updates and exception alerts to stakeholders.
  • • Notify consignees of arrivals and coordinate final-mile delivery or pickup appointments.
  • • Review import and export paperwork for accuracy and compliance; classify goods using tariff codes.
  • • Prepare and distribute shipment manifests and weight or load summaries as required.
  • • Resolve service issues by coordinating with carriers, vendors, and claims departments; arrange repairs or returns.
