Description
Coordinate and document the movement of incoming and outgoing freight at terminals, warehouses, and docks. Receive shipment orders, schedule pickups and deliveries, and prepare, verify, and file bills of lading, invoices, and tariff paperwork. Record weights and charges, track shipments, and resolve documentation or delivery issues.
- • Schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers and internal dispatch.
- • Provide customers with shipment options, status updates, and billing information.
- • Determine shipping method and prepare bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents.
- • Calculate rates and surcharges and record shipment costs and weights.
- • Enter and update shipment data using computers, TMS/WMS, or barcode scanners.

- • Coordinate with warehouse and dock staff on packing, staging, and loading priorities.
- • Process insurance declarations or claims documentation for shipments.
- • Monitor cargo loading to confirm completeness and proper weight distribution.
- • Open containers and unwrap contents safely using hand tools for inspection.
- • Create and attach labels, identification codes, and shipping instructions.
- • Route incoming freight to outbound carriers or designated storage locations using material-handling equipment.
- • Maintain inventory of packing and shipping supplies.
- • Assemble cartons, pallets, or crates for transport when needed.
- • Track and document delivery milestones and exceptions.
- • Notify consignees or customers of freight arrival and arrange final delivery or pickup.
- • Review import or export documentation, classify goods using tariff codes, and ensure compliance.
- • Prepare cargo manifests and weight summaries and transmit required data to destinations or systems.
- • Communicate with vendors, carriers, or claims departments to resolve shipment issues or arrange repairs.
