Description
Coordinate and expedite international inbound cargo from port or airport to final destination. Take shipment requests, arrange carrier bookings and drayage pickups, and route freight to receiving sites on schedule. Prepare, review, and classify import documents (e.g., bills of lading, commercial invoices) to determine duties, taxes, and charges while ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and partner government agencies.
  • • Negotiate and arrange international inbound transport and drayage with carriers, forwarders, and brokers.
  • • Advise internal teams and suppliers on Incoterms, documentation, and payment methods.
  • • Determine routing and mode for import shipments; prepare or obtain commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading or air waybills.
  • • Classify goods using HTS codes and determine duties, taxes, and tariffs.
  • • Create and submit ISF (10+2) filings and collect import compliance data.
  • • Estimate landed costs and record freight, duty, and accessorial charges by weight or volume.
  • • Enter shipment and customs data into TMS/ERP; upload documents and EDI entries.
  • • Track ETAs and milestones; monitor holds, demurrage, and detention; escalate delays.
  • • Arrange customs clearance with brokers and coordinate PGA filings (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA) as needed.
  • • Schedule delivery appointments and route cleared cargo to warehouses or final destinations.
  • • Receive arrival notices; notify consignees and stakeholders of shipment status and delivery plans.
  • • Reconcile carrier and broker invoices; verify rates, surcharges, and accessorials; resolve discrepancies.
  • • Maintain accurate records of entries, bonds, and shipping documents per recordkeeping requirements.
  • • Investigate and trace delayed, short, or damaged cargo; file claims and coordinate repairs or replacements.
  • • Inspect documentation for completeness and compliance; correct errors before filing.
  • • Arrange cargo insurance certificates and declare values as required.
  • • Prepare import manifests, entry packets, and delivery orders; transmit data to relevant parties.
  • • Coordinate and prioritize workloads of 3PLs and drayage partners.
  • • Maintain SKU, vendor, and tariff databases; update SOPs and compliance checklists.
  • • Ensure proper labeling and documentation on inbound containers and pallets for receiving.
  • • Verify weights, dimensions, and container seals against documents; record variances.
  • • Use scheduling systems to assign doors and allocate space for inbound loads.
  • • Communicate with ports, terminals, airlines, and rail ramps to secure release and arrange pickups.
  • • Support audits, C-TPAT participation, and internal compliance reviews; train stakeholders on import procedures.
