Analyze, develop, and evaluate policies and programs that advance sustainable development, climate action, and equitable resource use across local, regional, and national jurisdictions.
  • • Research, design, and advise on government policies and programs for sustainable land use, energy, housing, water, and transportation.
  • • Evaluate and recommend approval, modification, or rejection of sustainability-related plans, projects, or policies.
  • • Prepare policy briefs and analytical reports with data visualizations and GIS overlays on emissions, equity, and resource use.
  • • Advise officials on policy feasibility, cost-benefit, regulatory alignment, and lower-impact alternatives.
  • • Conduct research, surveys, and impact studies on economic, social, climate, and regulatory factors affecting sustainable development.
  • • Consult with agencies on goals for sustainability initiatives across transportation, conservation, housing, industry, and community resilience.
  • • Track and interpret legislation, building codes, and environmental regulations affecting sustainability and climate policy.
  • • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, mediate conflicts, and develop consensus policy options.
  • • Coordinate with economists, engineers, and planners to align policy analysis with infrastructure design and investments.
  • • Review and evaluate environmental and social impact assessments for public and private initiatives.
  • • Supervise or coordinate analysts, interns, and consultants supporting policy research.
  • • Organize public meetings and briefings with officials, researchers, advocates, and community groups to develop or refine sustainability policies.
  • • Advocate evidence-based sustainability and climate action to agencies, community groups, and the public.
  • • Analyze and propose low-carbon transportation and mobility policies, including transit, active transportation, and electrification.
  • • Assess projects and proposals for lifecycle emissions, resilience, and environmental justice implications.
  • • Identify policy and program opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce pollution and waste, and restore ecosystems.
  • • Assess how statutes and regulations affect sustainability initiatives and development outcomes.
  • • Assess feasibility of policy options and recommend adjustments to meet sustainability targets.
  • • Analyze land and resource availability, constraints, and suitability for sustainable development.
  • • Conduct interviews, surveys, and site visits to gather data on zoning, mobility, housing, and environmental conditions.
  • • Prepare statistical analyses and dashboards illustrating trends in emissions, land use, population, and equity.
  • • Develop and maintain GIS maps, datasets, and models supporting policy analysis.
  • • Maintain policy documentation, datasets, and version-controlled records.
  • • Research, compile, and synthesize evidence from datasets, literature, and fieldwork for reports and special initiatives.
  • • Respond to public and stakeholder inquiries on sustainability policies and program performance.
