Description
Advise public and private clients on land use, zoning, and development, and deliver comprehensive plans, policies, and studies for cities, regions, and major projects.
  • • Design, evaluate, and administer client planning policies and programs for land use, zoning, utilities, housing, and transportation.
  • • Prepare recommendations for client approval, modification, or denial of development proposals.
  • • Produce graphic and narrative reports, maps, and dashboards summarizing land use and demographic data.
  • • Advise clients and decision-makers on project feasibility, cost-effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and alternatives.
  • • Conduct fieldwork, surveys, and impact studies to analyze economic, social, regulatory, and physical factors.
  • • Facilitate scoping sessions with officials and clients to define goals for transportation, conservation, and development projects.
  • • Monitor and interpret zoning codes, building codes, and environmental regulations affecting client projects.
  • • Mediate stakeholder issues and develop alternative scenarios or recommendations.
  • • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including economists, architects, engineers, and environmental specialists.
  • • Prepare and review environmental impact analyses and compliance documents for public and private projects.
  • • Lead and mentor junior planners, technicians, or subcontractors on project tasks.
  • • Plan and facilitate public meetings, charrettes, and hearings with officials, developers, and community groups.
  • • Integrate sustainability principles and communicate benefits to clients and stakeholders.
  • • Develop multimodal transportation and mobility plans to reduce emissions and improve access.
  • • Evaluate development and infrastructure proposals for environmental and social impacts.
  • • Identify and design sustainability initiatives to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and restore natural systems.
  • • Assess regulatory constraints and entitlement pathways for proposed land use projects.
  • • Perform feasibility studies and recommend design or policy changes.
  • • Research property conditions, ownership, and market factors to support development strategies.
  • • Conduct interviews, surveys, and site inspections on zoning, traffic, housing, and community needs.
  • • Prepare technical reports with statistics, charts, and graphics to present planning analyses and findings.
  • • Build and manage GIS maps, models, and spatial databases.
  • • Maintain organized project files, datasets, and documentation.
  • • Compile and synthesize information from maps, reports, and investigations for deliverables and proposals.
  • • Manage stakeholder inquiries and respond to community feedback on behalf of clients.
