Develop and coordinate regional plans and programs for land use, transportation, housing, utilities, and natural resources across multiple jurisdictions.
  • • Design, coordinate, and administer regional plans and policies for land use, transportation, housing, utilities, and community facilities across jurisdictions.
  • • Recommend approval, denial, or conditions for regionally significant projects and local plans to ensure regional consistency.
  • • Prepare regional maps and reports integrating land use, demographics, and infrastructure data.
  • • Advise regional boards and local governments on feasibility, cost-effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and alternatives.
  • • Conduct regional surveys, impact studies, and research on economic, social, regulatory, and physical factors affecting growth.
  • • Consult with local, tribal, and state officials on regional transportation, conservation, residential, commercial, and industrial initiatives.
  • • Monitor state and federal policies, zoning, building codes, and environmental regulations affecting the region.
  • • Facilitate interjurisdictional conflict resolution and develop alternative regional strategies.
  • • Coordinate with MPOs, engineers, economists, and architects on major regional infrastructure plans.
  • • Review environmental impact documents for regionally significant public and private projects.
  • • Supervise or coordinate regional planning analysts, GIS staff, and consultants.
  • • Lead regional public meetings and stakeholder workshops on land use, housing, transportation, and growth management.
  • • Promote regional sustainability, resilience, and equity objectives.
  • • Develop regional multimodal transportation plans to reduce emissions and improve mobility and safety.
  • • Evaluate infrastructure and development proposals for environmental impacts, fiscal effects, and sustainability.
  • • Identify and plan regional initiatives for energy efficiency, pollution reduction, hazard mitigation, and ecosystem restoration.
  • • Assess how state, regional, and local policies constrain or enable proposed land uses.
  • • Evaluate local comprehensive plans and projects for consistency with regional plans and recommend revisions.
  • • Analyze regional development capacity, redevelopment opportunities, and priority growth areas.
  • • Conduct regional site visits, surveys, and interviews on zoning, traffic, housing, and infrastructure conditions.
  • • Prepare regional planning studies with statistics, forecasts, charts, and performance dashboards.
  • • Build and maintain regional GIS maps, travel demand models, and planning databases.
  • • Maintain regional planning records, land use datasets, and performance metrics.
  • • Research and synthesize regional data, best practices, and literature for reports and special projects.
  • • Respond to inquiries and complaints from regional stakeholders, agencies, and the public.
