Description
Screen carry-on and checked baggage at transportation facilities to prevent prohibited items from entering secure areas. Operate imaging and detection equipment, interpret results, and enforce screening rules while maintaining safety and passenger flow.
- • Operate X-ray, CT, and other screening devices to examine baggage.
- • Interpret images to identify weapons, explosives, and other prohibited items.
- • Conduct secondary inspections, including manual bag searches, when anomalies occur.
- • Perform explosive trace detection swabs and resolve alarms per procedures.
- • Isolate and secure suspicious baggage and maintain chain of custody.
- • Verify identification, travel documents, or bag tags as required.
- • Inform travelers of screening procedures and address rule violations.
- • Confiscate or reject prohibited items per policy and ensure secure handling and documentation.
- • Record daily activities, alarms, and incidents in logs and reports.
- • Notify supervisors or law enforcement of threats, prohibited items, or noncompliance.
- • Manage checkpoint lines and maintain order and safety in the screening area.
- • Perform pre-operational checks and basic care of screening equipment; report malfunctions.
- • Secure screening stations and access points at opening and closing.
- • Provide basic first aid or request medical assistance during emergencies.
