Description
Provide administrative and basic clinical support under the direction of a physician. Manage scheduling, medical records, billing, coding, and patient communications. Take and record vital signs and histories, prepare patients and rooms, collect specimens, perform point-of-care tests, administer medications and injections as ordered, and assist with examinations and minor procedures.
  • • Interview patients; obtain histories and record vital signs, height, and weight.
  • • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for evaluation.
  • • Document histories, vitals, and test results in the EHR.
  • • Prepare and administer medications per provider orders.
  • • Collect blood, urine, and other specimens; label, log, and prepare for testing.
  • • Explain procedures, medications, diets, and discharge instructions.
  • • Assist with exams and minor procedures; give injections or remove sutures as permitted.
  • • Process prescription refills and communicate with pharmacies per protocol.
  • • Prepare, stock, and clean exam rooms.
  • • Clean and sterilize instruments; dispose of biohazardous waste.
  • • Schedule patient appointments and follow-ups.
  • • Change wound dressings as directed.
  • • Greet patients, verify demographics/insurance, and check them in.
  • • Coordinate referrals, tests, imaging, or admissions.
  • • Handle phones, messages, and insurance forms.
  • • Manage inventory and order medical and office supplies.
  • • Perform point-of-care tests and routine lab procedures.
  • • Set up and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • • Process payments and maintain basic financial records.
  • • Perform EKGs and operate other routine diagnostic equipment.
