Aerobics Instructors lead group cardio-based fitness classes to improve participants’ endurance, strength, and flexibility. They demonstrate choreography and proper form, cue movements and intensity, monitor participants, and provide safe modifications. They design class plans and playlists and maintain a safe, motivating studio environment.
  • • Maintain current CPR/AED and group fitness certifications.
  • • Explain and enforce safety rules for aerobics classes and use of studio equipment.
  • • Offer low-, moderate-, and high-impact options to accommodate different fitness levels.
  • • Plan class routines, choreography, and music playlists appropriate to participants’ abilities.
  • • Demonstrate movements and proper form; provide clear verbal and visual cues.
  • • Observe participants and give corrective feedback to improve technique.
  • • Instruct on pacing, heart-rate zones, and perceived exertion to maximize cardio benefits.
  • • Teach proper breathing and body mechanics during aerobic activity.
  • • Lead warm-ups and cool-downs, including stretching and mobility.
  • • Set up, teach, and supervise use of steps, mats, light weights, and resistance bands.
  • • Monitor participant progress and adapt routines and intensity as needed.
  • • Evaluate new participants’ abilities and limitations and note any special considerations.
  • • Maintain and sanitize studio and equipment; inspect for wear and safety.
  • • Prepare and operate audio systems and microphones; manage music volume safely.
  • • Provide general guidance on hydration, recovery, and healthy habits within scope of practice.
  • • Administer basic first aid and respond to injuries or emergencies; refer to medical care when needed.
  • • Advise participants on appropriate footwear and attire for aerobics formats.
  • • Record attendance and class feedback; communicate schedules and promote classes.
  • • Collaborate with facility staff to schedule classes and support member engagement.
