Description
Teach undergraduate English composition, literature, and language courses with a primary focus on instruction. Design curricula and materials, deliver in-person and online classes, assess learning, advise students, and contribute to departmental service and student success.
  • • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
  • • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
  • • Prepare course materials, such as syllabi, assignments, and handouts.
  • • Prepare and deliver lessons on composition, rhetoric, literature, and language.
  • • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
  • • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, materials, and methods of instruction.
  • • Compile, administer, and grade examinations and assessments.
  • • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
  • • Keep abreast of developments in the field through reading, collaboration, and conferences.
  • • Select and obtain textbooks and instructional materials.
  • • Advise students on academic pathways, transfer options, and career issues.
  • • Engage in professional development and evidence-based teaching.
  • • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, assessment, and student success initiatives.
  • • Serve on academic or administrative committees.
  • • Participate in campus and community events.
  • • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, and placement activities.
  • • Compile bibliographies and reading lists for outside assignments.
  • • Supervise undergraduate teaching assistants, tutors, or internship placements.
  • • Provide assistance to students in the writing center or through embedded support.
  • • Perform administrative duties such as course coordination and assessment reporting.
  • • Advise or mentor student organizations.
  • • Contribute to grant proposals or projects supporting teaching and learning.
  • • Provide workshops or outreach to campus or community partners.
  • • Assist students who need extra help with coursework outside of class.
  • • Organize or participate in cultural and literary activities and events.
  • • Develop sample texts and instructional resources for class use.
  • • Recruit, train, and supervise peer tutors or writing center staff.
  • • Provide performance feedback to student employees or tutors.
  • • Teach classes using online and hybrid technologies and learning management systems.
  • • Teach writing, composition, and communication courses.
  • • Provide input for course scheduling and staffing.
  • • Write letters of recommendation for students.
  • • Review and adopt instructional materials and open educational resources.
