Description
Part-time faculty member who teaches assigned English language, writing, and literature courses; designs syllabi and learning activities, delivers in-person and online instruction, evaluates student work, maintains records, and supports student success in alignment with departmental standards. Limited service and research; collaborates with program leadership and follows institutional policies.
- • Prepare and deliver lectures and learning activities for assigned English and literature courses.
- • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom and online discussions.
- • Develop syllabi, course schedules, assignments, and assessment rubrics aligned with outcomes.
- • Evaluate and grade student work, papers, and projects promptly.
- • Compile, administer, proctor, and grade examinations.
- • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and required records in the LMS.
- • Hold regular office hours (in person or virtual) to advise and assist students.
- • Provide targeted feedback and extra help to students outside class.
- • Select and request textbooks, readings, and instructional materials.
- • Compile bibliographies and outside reading lists for coursework.
- • Plan, evaluate, and revise course content and teaching methods to improve learning.
- • Teach classes using online, hybrid, and other instructional technologies.
- • Communicate course policies, deadlines, and progress clearly to students.
- • Write letters of recommendation for students as appropriate.
- • Collaborate with department faculty and staff on curriculum alignment and student support.
- • Participate in required departmental meetings, trainings, and compliance activities.
- • Keep current with developments in English studies and pedagogy.
- • Support student recruitment, orientation, or placement activities when requested.
- • Promote academic integrity, accessibility, and inclusive teaching practices.
- • Refer students to writing centers and campus resources; coordinate workshops if assigned.
- • Submit grades, attendance, and assessment data by institutional deadlines.
- • Use the LMS and educational technology to manage courses and communicate with students.
- • Encourage student engagement with campus literary and cultural events.
- • Adhere to FERPA and institutional policies and procedures.
