Assistant Professor of English who teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in language, literature, writing, and related areas; conducts research or creative scholarship with publications and funding activity; and contributes to student advising and departmental and university service.
  • • Lead and moderate seminar and classroom discussions.
  • • Develop syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and course materials.
  • • Design and deliver lectures on literature, writing, linguistics, and related topics.
  • • Evaluate and grade assignments, exams, and papers.
  • • Maintain accurate attendance and grade records.
  • • Plan, assess, and revise course content and instructional methods.
  • • Create, administer, and grade examinations.
  • • Hold regular office hours to advise and support students.
  • • Stay current in the field through reading, workshops, and conferences.
  • • Select textbooks and secure instructional materials.
  • • Advise students on academic pathways, research, and careers.
  • • Conduct original research or creative scholarship and publish findings.
  • • Collaborate with colleagues on teaching and research initiatives.
  • • Serve on departmental and university committees.
  • • Engage in campus and community outreach events.
  • • Support student recruitment, orientation, and placement efforts.
  • • Compile reading lists and bibliographies for courses.
  • • Supervise student research, internships, and teaching assistants.
  • • Partner with the writing center to support student writing.
  • • Contribute to program administration as assigned.
  • • Advise student organizations and honor societies.
  • • Pursue internal and external research funding.
  • • Offer professional expertise to community or industry partners.
  • • Provide individualized academic support outside class.
  • • Participate in cultural and literary events and study-abroad activities.
  • • Produce creative work, as appropriate to specialization.
  • • Recruit and mentor graduate assistants and student instructors.
  • • Teach courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
  • • Teach writing and communication courses.
  • • Contribute to course scheduling and program planning.
  • • Write letters of recommendation.
  • • Peer-review manuscripts for journals and presses.
