Associate Professor of English who teaches advanced undergraduate and graduate courses, conducts and publishes peer-reviewed scholarship, mentors students and junior colleagues, seeks research funding, and leads curriculum and service initiatives.
  • • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in English language and literature.
  • • Prepare and update syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and materials.
  • • Lead seminars and moderate scholarly discussions.
  • • Evaluate and grade student work with timely feedback.
  • • Design, administer, and grade exams and assessments; supervise TAs as needed.
  • • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades.
  • • Hold regular office hours for advising and mentoring.
  • • Advise students on academic plans, research, and careers.
  • • Supervise graduate theses, dissertations, and independent studies.
  • • Mentor junior faculty and teaching assistants.
  • • Conduct original research or creative work and publish in peer-reviewed venues.
  • • Seek external and internal funding through grant proposals.
  • • Present research at conferences and in scholarly networks.
  • • Collaborate on teaching, research, and program initiatives.
  • • Lead curriculum development and program assessment.
  • • Select textbooks and learning resources; coordinate adoptions across sections.
  • • Chair or serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, and placement.
  • • Write letters of recommendation for students and advisees.
  • • Review manuscripts, book proposals, or grants for publishers or agencies.
  • • Serve as faculty adviser to student organizations or publications.
  • • Engage in community outreach and campus cultural events.
  • • Use inclusive pedagogies and support diverse learners.
  • • Teach and develop online and hybrid courses.
  • • Coordinate multi-section courses and schedule classes as needed.
  • • Compile and update bibliographies and reading lists.
  • • Oversee and assess instruction by TAs, graders, or instructors.
  • • Participate in faculty hiring, mentoring, and annual reviews.
  • • Perform administrative duties; may serve as program director or interim chair.
  • • Provide professional consulting related to field specialization.
  • • Provide additional academic support and connect students to writing resources.
  • • Maintain professional development through reading and training.
  • • Travel for research, archives work, and study-abroad leadership.
  • • Uphold departmental policies and accreditation standards.
