Description
Operate keypunch and verifier machines to transcribe source documents into punched cards or paper tape; verify accuracy and prepare card decks for processing or printing.
- • Read source documents (e.g., invoices, time cards) and key data into punched cards or paper tape.
- • Compile, sort, and review data for completeness before punching.
- • Compare punched data with source documents or re-punch in verification mode to detect errors.
- • Correct punch errors by repunching or duplicating cards and report recurring issues to supervisors.
- • Label, organize, and store completed card decks in designated locations.
- • Maintain logs of batches, machine settings, and completed work.
- • Select and prepare materials such as card stock, separator cards, and headers for each assignment.
- • Load and align machines with cards or tape and set required formats or program cards/templates.
- • Sort, collate, or reproduce cards using peripheral equipment such as sorters, collators, or reproducers.
