Description
Transcribe print and digital materials into braille using translation software and embossers. Duties include applying UEB standards, proofreading, and preparing tactile materials for embossing and distribution.
- • Review print or digital materials and transcribe content using braille translation software.
- • Organize and verify source files for completeness and legibility before transcription.
- • Apply Unified English Braille (UEB) and agency formatting rules to text and specialty content.
- • Proofread braille against the source and correct transcription or formatting errors.
- • Create tactile graphics or descriptions as required, following tactile production standards.
- • Load and configure embossers and related equipment; perform test runs and adjustments.
- • Store and label electronic braille files and embossed volumes for retrieval and distribution.
- • Maintain production logs, job tickets, and quality control records.
- • Resolve unclear or ambiguous source content by consulting requesters and making manual corrections.
