Description
Apply civil engineering principles in the field to monitor construction, perform materials testing and surveying, verify layout and compliance with plans and codes, and document progress under the direction of project engineers.
  • • Measure and calculate field quantities, elevations, and material takeoffs using survey tools and software.
  • • Lay out and stake project features; set control points and update as-built markups.
  • • Collect and analyze site conditions; prepare field sketches, photos, and maps to document findings.
  • • Read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings to guide and verify field work.
  • • Prepare daily reports, test logs, and documentation of project activities and data.
  • • Coordinate with supervisors and project engineers on testing plans, inspections, and schedule.
  • • Inspect ongoing work to verify conformance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes; document deficiencies.
  • • Assist with topographic and construction surveys using GPS and total stations.
  • • Track installed quantities and support cost and schedule updates with verified measurements.
  • • Identify field conflicts or maintenance issues; report and assist with RFIs and redline resolutions.
  • • Sample and test soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates per ASTM/AASHTO procedures; maintain test equipment.
  • • Support site safety by monitoring conditions, enforcing PPE and traffic control, and reporting incidents.
  • • Coordinate with contractors to schedule tests, inspections, and access to work areas.
  • • Assist with punch lists, acceptance testing, and project closeout documentation.
