Description
Assist civil engineers with planning, design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure by applying civil engineering principles; perform drafting, calculations, field surveys, materials testing, inspections, and documentation under the direction of engineering staff.
- • Calculate dimensions, quantities, and component specifications using calculators, CAD, and spreadsheets.
- • Draft detailed drawings, plans, and layouts to meet project specifications and standards.
- • Assist in analyzing site conditions and prepare maps, cross-sections, and diagrams to illustrate findings.
- • Review blueprints, specifications, and codes to determine dimensions and material requirements.
- • Prepare field logs, test reports, and documentation of project activities.
- • Confer with engineers or supervisors on plan preparation, acceptance testing, and field conditions.
- • Inspect project sites and document contractor work for conformance to plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
- • Perform or assist with field surveys, collect measurements, and set up survey equipment.
- • Assist in developing plans, quantity takeoffs, and preliminary cost estimates.
- • Report constructability or maintenance issues from the field to supervisors for resolution.
- • Perform routine materials testing (concrete, soils, asphalt) and record results.
- • Maintain CAD files, as-built drawings, and project records.
- • Assist in preparing project budgets and schedules and track progress against them.
- • Coordinate with contractors, utilities, and vendors to schedule inspections, gather submittals, and track RFIs.
