Plan, direct, and coordinate mechanical engineering design, development, testing, manufacturing support, and research activities.
- • Confer with management, manufacturing, quality, or marketing to define mechanical project requirements and procedures.
- • Plan and direct installation, commissioning, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment.
- • Present and explain technical proposals, reports, and findings to clients and stakeholders.
- • Consult or negotiate with clients to define specifications, performance targets, and acceptance criteria.
- • Lead initiatives to improve energy efficiency, material usage, and sustainability in mechanical products and operations.
- • Interpret environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements to guide mechanical design and operations.
- • Assess lifecycle environmental impacts of mechanical designs, materials, and processes.
- • Identify risks and opportunities in new mechanical technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- • Coordinate and integrate CAD/CAE, prototyping, testing, and supplier activities across mechanical projects.
- • Direct, review, and approve mechanical designs, analyses (FEA/CFD), and engineering changes.
- • Prepare and manage budgets, schedules, bids, and resource plans for mechanical programs.
- • Evaluate project feasibility by analyzing technology readiness, resource needs, and market demand.
- • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate mechanical engineering staff and cross-functional project teams.
- • Review, negotiate, or approve vendor quotes, contracts, and cost estimates for mechanical components and tooling.
- • Develop and enforce engineering standards, design guidelines, validation plans, and change-control procedures.
- • Perform administrative functions, including reporting, approving expenditures, enforcing policies, and purchasing materials or services.
- • Establish technical roadmaps and performance goals aligned with business strategy.
- • Build stakeholder support by engaging executives, customers, regulators, or the public.
- • Plan and coordinate field measurements, site surveys, or asset audits with other project activities.
