Description
Perform specialized law enforcement and investigative functions in transit and railroad environments to protect property, employees, and passengers.
- • Lead targeted patrols and special operations in rail yards, trains, stations, and facilities to maintain safety and order.
- • Manage access control and verify credentials for restricted or secured areas.
- • Apprehend or coordinate the removal of trespassers or theft suspects and liaise with partner agencies.
- • Prepare detailed incident and investigative reports and maintain complete case files.
- • Conduct specialized investigations of freight theft, vandalism, fraud, or crimes affecting passengers or property, ensuring proper evidence handling.
- • Direct scene security and support incident command at derailments, fires, hazardous materials events, floods, or labor actions.
- • Develop and deliver training for officers and staff on transit security procedures, legal updates, and tactics.
- • Conduct pre-employment background investigations, including interviews and records checks.
- • Plan and implement risk-based safety and crime prevention programs, including fire and accident prevention.
- • Monitor transit systems using CCTV, analytics, and field inspections; respond to suspicious activity and threats.
- • Enforce transit regulations and applicable laws; issue warnings or citations and document violations.
- • Provide public outreach and instruction on railroad and transit safety and security.
