Description
Design, develop, and evaluate curricula and instructional materials to improve learner performance and meet organizational or academic standards. Conduct needs analyses, define learning objectives, and continuously assess and refine programs for effectiveness.
  • • Stay current in content area, learning science, and instructional technology through research and professional development.
  • • Define learning objectives, competencies, and success criteria aligned to standards or business goals.
  • • Conduct needs assessments, job/task analyses, and learner analyses to inform curriculum design.
  • • Map scope and sequence, course structures, and learning pathways across programs.
  • • Design learning activities using varied instructional strategies (e.g., scenarios, simulations, discussions, microlearning).
  • • Develop assessments and rubrics to measure knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • • Create instructor guides, learner materials, job aids, and multimedia assets.
  • • Build or configure content in LMS/LXPs and authoring tools; manage metadata and enrollment rules.
  • • Evaluate and select delivery modes (in-person, virtual, blended, self-paced) to optimize outcomes, cost, and accessibility.
  • • Pilot curricula, collect feedback and data, and iterate based on evaluation findings.
  • • Analyze learning analytics and evaluation results to improve curriculum effectiveness.
  • • Collaborate with subject-matter experts, instructors, and stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
  • • Provide implementation guidance and train facilitators on curriculum use and best practices.
  • • Develop alternative approaches or remediation plans when learning gaps persist.
  • • Curate, adapt, or license third-party or open educational resources to fill content needs.
  • • Ensure accessibility, inclusivity, and compliance (e.g., Section 508/WCAG, copyright).
  • • Plan development timelines, milestones, and resource needs; track budgets for curriculum projects.
  • • Maintain version control, style guides, and quality standards across materials.
  • • Coordinate schedules for pilots, reviews, and releases with instructors and program managers.
  • • Document and report curriculum status, risks, and outcomes to leadership.
