Description
Plan, direct, and coordinate an organization's volunteer services. Oversee recruitment, screening, placement, training, scheduling, recognition, and retention of volunteers. Manage program budgets, policies, risk management, and data systems; supervise volunteer services staff to align volunteer engagement with organizational goals.
- • Establish and maintain partnerships with community groups, schools, and corporations to source volunteers and align service projects.
- • Prepare and maintain volunteer program records and reports, including hours, compliance checks, budgets, and manuals.
- • Direct the activities of volunteer coordinators, team leads, and volunteers.
- • Evaluate volunteer and staff performance and program outcomes to ensure quality and effective use of resources.
- • Develop and oversee volunteer services policies and procedures for screening, onboarding, safety, and conduct.
- • Set or advise on policies for volunteer eligibility, role requirements, training, and recognition benefits.
- • Research and analyze organizational and community needs to define volunteer roles, goals, and service projects.
- • Present to community groups and corporate partners to promote volunteer opportunities and program impact.
- • Recruit, interview, screen, and place volunteers; hire and onboard volunteer services staff as needed.
- • Represent the organization on volunteerism with funders, government agencies, and media.
- • Plan and manage the volunteer services budget, tools, and support resources.
- • Monitor regulatory and policy changes affecting volunteers and update practices accordingly.
- • Advise departments on volunteer risk management, compliance, and best practices.
- • Coordinate volunteer recognition, engagement, and retention initiatives and related communications.
- • Provide direct support to volunteers and clients, including matching, scheduling, conflict resolution, and incident response.
- • Design, deliver, and evaluate training for volunteers, team leads, and staff who supervise volunteers.
