Description
Coordinate and oversee recreational therapy programs in hospitals, nursing homes, and community settings. Plan and evaluate medically approved activities—sports, trips, arts, and social events—ensure individualized, goal-directed care, staff training, and regulatory compliance, and support assessment, documentation, and discharge planning.
- • Oversee patient assessment workflows and ensure accurate, timely documentation of capabilities, needs, and interests.
- • Guide staff in developing and updating individualized treatment plans aligned with therapy objectives and patient preferences.
- • Plan, schedule, and coordinate medically approved recreation programs across units and sites.
- • Monitor sessions and outcomes; analyze participation and progress data and direct program or plan modifications as needed.
- • Lead interdisciplinary care conferences to plan, coordinate, and evaluate recreational therapy interventions.
- • Develop curricula, safety protocols, and activity guidelines; train and mentor staff in techniques and best practices.
- • Implement patient and family engagement strategies that promote skill building, leisure participation, and wellness.
- • Manage program resources, including staffing assignments, budgets, equipment, and community partnerships.
- • Ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, accessibility, and risk-management standards.
- • Prepare and present program reports, dashboards, and charts to treatment teams and leadership.
- • Coordinate discharge and transition planning related to recreation, linking patients to community-based activities and supports.
