Description
Plan, direct, and coordinate medically approved creative arts therapy programs using art, music, drama, and dance/movement to address patient needs in hospitals, nursing homes, or other settings. Assess client functioning and recommend arts-based interventions that support mental, emotional, cognitive, and physical health.
- • Observe, analyze, and document clients' participation, reactions, and progress during arts-based sessions; adjust interventions as needed.
- • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments, client interests, and therapy objectives.
- • Engage clients in visual art, music, drama, and dance/movement activities to build coping skills and promote well-being.
- • Counsel clients on using creative expression for self-regulation, stress reduction, and leisure.
- • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan and evaluate therapy goals and outcomes.
- • Facilitate individual and group creative arts therapy sessions to improve emotional, cognitive, social, and physical functioning.
- • Teach arts-based techniques (e.g., drawing, improvisation, songwriting, movement, guided imagery) tailored to client goals.
- • Gather information from medical records, staff, families, and clients to assess abilities, needs, and creative preferences.
- • Plan and lead arts-based rehabilitation programs that support community integration and symptom management.
- • Prepare and present progress notes and reports reflecting client responses and outcomes to the treatment team.
- • Contribute to discharge and aftercare plans, including referrals to community arts resources or continued therapy.
