Description
Plan, deliver, and evaluate clinically informed drama therapy services that use theater arts to address clients' emotional, cognitive, and social needs in hospitals, schools, behavioral health, or community settings. Techniques include role-play, improvisation, storytelling, and performance. Assess client needs and recommend appropriate drama-based interventions.
  • • Observe, analyze, and document clients' participation, affect, and progress in drama sessions, adjusting interventions as needed.
  • • Develop individualized drama therapy treatment plans based on assessments, goals, and client interests.
  • • Engage clients in therapeutic role-play, improvisation, storytelling, and ensemble work to build skills and promote well-being.
  • • Counsel and motivate clients to use creative expression and drama-based coping strategies outside sessions.
  • • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, educators, and families to plan and evaluate therapy goals.
  • • Lead individual and group drama therapy sessions to support emotional regulation, insight, and social connection.
  • • Teach drama techniques such as character work, scene study, playback theater, mask work or puppetry, and relaxation and grounding.
  • • Gather history and goals from records, clinicians, families, and clients to assess capacities, risks, and strengths.
  • • Plan and facilitate structured drama programs and community-based performances to support rehabilitation and community integration.
  • • Maintain clinical documentation, progress notes, and outcome measures for the treatment team and stakeholders.
  • • Develop discharge and aftercare plans, including referrals to community arts resources and support groups.
