Description
Enforce municipal codes and neighborhood conservation ordinances by inspecting properties and public spaces, investigating complaints, documenting violations, and coordinating corrective actions to protect community health, safety, and appearance.
  • • Prepare inspection reports, case files, notices of violation, and recommendations for enforcement.
  • • Review permits, property records, licenses, and contractor documents to verify compliance.
  • • Respond to citizen complaints and conduct proactive patrols to identify code violations.
  • • Conduct investigations and enforcement actions in accordance with due process and applicable laws.
  • • Collect and preserve photographic, physical, and digital evidence of violations.
  • • Inspect property maintenance, construction, renovations, signage, and land use for code compliance.
  • • Coordinate with police, fire, health, and public works on nuisance abatement and safety issues.
  • • Testify at administrative hearings or in court regarding findings and enforcement actions.
  • • Inspect contractor work in public rights-of-way and municipal projects for compliance with standards.
  • • Recommend citations, fines, abatement orders, or legal action to remedy violations and protect public assets.
  • • Inspect public spaces, parks, alleys, and exterior areas of public housing for ordinance compliance.
  • • Investigate alleged violations of rental licensing, building or zoning permits, and vendor or signage permits.
  • • Review and comment on applications for variances, special use, or neighborhood event permits.
