Description
Teach and develop undergraduate and selected graduate courses in the application of physical laws and engineering principles for the design of machines, materials, instruments, processes, and services. Areas may include chemical, civil, electrical, industrial, mechanical, mineral, and petroleum engineering. Role is teaching-focused, emphasizing curriculum development, hands-on labs and design projects, student advising, assessment, and service, with limited involvement in applied scholarship or industry engagement.
  • • Prepare and deliver lectures and lab sessions on topics such as mechanics, hydraulics, and robotics.
  • • Develop syllabi, assignments, lab manuals, and other course materials.
  • • Evaluate and grade classwork, labs, projects, and exams.
  • • Compile, administer, and grade examinations or coordinate grading with TAs.
  • • Supervise students’ laboratory work and design projects.
  • • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate class discussions and design reviews.
  • • Maintain regular office hours to advise and assist students.
  • • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and instructional methods.
  • • Advise students on academic pathways, internships, and career options.
  • • Maintain attendance, grades, and required academic records.
  • • Coordinate and mentor teaching assistants and lab instructors.
  • • Select and procure textbooks, software, and laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • • Keep current with engineering and pedagogy through literature, workshops, and professional meetings.
  • • Supervise undergraduate capstones and independent study projects.
  • • Collaborate with colleagues on course sequencing, assessment, and program improvement.
  • • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, and retention initiatives.
  • • Serve on departmental or college committees related to teaching and student success.
  • • Support accreditation activities by collecting data and preparing assessment reports.
  • • Advise or mentor student organizations and competition teams.
  • • Engage with industry partners to align coursework with professional practice and identify projects.
  • • Organize or participate in campus and community outreach events.
  • • Contribute to online and hybrid course development and continuous improvement.
  • • Perform course coordination and other instructional administrative duties.
