Description
Teach part-time undergraduate or graduate engineering courses focused on applying physical laws and engineering principles to the design of machines, materials, instruments, processes, and services. Emphasizes high-quality, industry-informed instruction, labs, and project-based learning with student support and limited departmental service; primary duties are teaching rather than research.
  • • Prepare and deliver engineering lectures and labs on topics such as mechanics, circuits, thermodynamics, and design.
  • • Develop and update syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and lab instructions per departmental guidelines.
  • • Compile, administer, and grade exams, projects, and laboratory reports.
  • • Evaluate and grade classwork and homework; provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • • Supervise and coach student lab and project work, including capstone teams.
  • • Maintain and post attendance, grades, and other required records in the LMS.
  • • Hold scheduled office hours (in-person or virtual) to assist students.
  • • Initiate and facilitate class discussions and active-learning activities.
  • • Ensure compliance with lab and classroom safety policies and procedures.
  • • Collaborate with course coordinators and faculty to align outcomes, content, and assessment (e.g., ABET).
  • • Recommend textbooks, software, and materials; coordinate lab supplies with staff.
  • • Keep current with advances in engineering practice and education through reading and professional activities.
  • • Uphold academic integrity; proctor assessments and report violations.
  • • Provide basic academic and career guidance; refer students to advisors or services as appropriate.
  • • Use the learning management system to distribute materials and communicate with students.
  • • Participate in required trainings, meetings, and course reviews.
  • • Submit grades and required documentation by institutional deadlines.
  • • Curate supplementary readings and resources for outside study.
  • • Assist with student outreach, recruitment, or community events when available.
  • • Mentor and coordinate teaching assistants or graders if assigned.
