Description
Install, route, and terminate electrical wiring and harnesses in equipment, panels, or machinery; assemble wiring components, label and test circuits for continuity and performance, and repair defects to meet specifications.
- • Inspect and test wiring installations and harnesses for continuity, insulation resistance, and correct polarity; record results.
- • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and work orders to plan routing and terminations.
- • Assemble and route wiring harnesses; install connectors, terminals, lugs, and cable supports using crimping and soldering tools.
- • Strip, crimp, tin, and terminate conductors to specifications; apply heat-shrink, boots, and strain relief.
- • Position, align, and secure cables, looms, and harnesses with ties, clamps, and trays to maintain clearances and bend radii.
- • Adjust, repair, or replace wires, connectors, or components to correct defects and ensure conformance.
- • Measure voltages, currents, and continuity to verify circuit operation and proper grounding.
- • Drill, punch, or tap openings to route wiring and mount cable glands, conduits, or control devices.
- • Clean and prepare wires, terminals, and panels using approved solvents, air, and lint-free cloths.
- • Label and tag wires, cables, and assemblies for identification, traceability, and inventory control.
- • Confer with supervisors, engineers, or quality staff to plan work, resolve wiring issues, or implement changes.
- • Explain wiring procedures or techniques to coworkers and assist with training.
- • Fabricate cable assemblies and cut cable to length using cutters, calipers, and measuring tools.
- • Complete and maintain build travelers, test records, time logs, and material usage reports.
- • Pack and protect finished harnesses or wired panels for shipment and move to storage areas.
- • Distribute wiring kits, connectors, and supplies to workstations as needed.
