Description
Coordinate, schedule, and dispatch bus and trolley operators and vehicles to deliver safe, on-time transit service. Use CAD/AVL, radio, and phone to assign runs, manage detours and disruptions, monitor fleet status, and compile service reports and performance statistics.
- • Dispatch buses, trolleys, and operators to routes and blocks per schedules and service needs using radio and CAD/AVL systems.
- • Prepare daily pull-out, pull-in, run, and extra-board assignments.
- • Monitor vehicle locations, headways, and on-time performance; adjust service and reliefs as needed.
- • Relay instructions, detours, and service changes to operators, road supervisors, and terminals.
- • Respond to incidents, breakdowns, and road hazards; coordinate detours, change-offs, and service restoration.
- • Arrange maintenance road calls, towing, and vehicle swaps; update schedules and customer information.
- • Confer with customers, field staff, and supervisors to resolve service issues and special requests.
- • Track operator availability, sign-ins, reliefs, meal breaks, and overtime in compliance with labor rules.
- • Maintain logs and records of trips, incidents, equipment status, fares, mileage, and crew time.
- • Determine vehicle types and quantities required for special events, weather, or ridership demands.
- • Advise operators of traffic, construction, weather, and safety alerts along routes.
- • Order or issue radios, keys, detour kits, and other operational supplies; maintain inventory records.
