Description
Coach individuals and teams in soccer for competitive play. Teach techniques, tactics, and the Laws of the Game; plan training and match strategies; and evaluate players for development and recruitment. Manage safety, logistics, and program operations to prepare the team for competition.
- • Plan, organize, and conduct soccer training sessions and drills.
- • Develop match tactics and select starting lineups and rotations.
- • Design and direct conditioning programs for endurance, speed, and agility.
- • Adjust coaching techniques based on player strengths, positions, and needs.
- • Prepare and file scouting reports on prospects; recommend recruitment targets and pipelines.
- • Instruct individuals and groups on the Laws of the Game, formations, and technical skills.
- • Analyze opponents’ systems and tendencies to create game plans.
- • Evaluate players’ skills and review performance data to assess fit and potential.
- • Stay current on rule changes, coaching methods, analytics, and soccer trends.

- • Organize and lead practices, scrimmages, and friendlies; officiate intra-squad games as needed.
- • Demonstrate and teach use of training tools such as cones, goals, ladders, and weights.
- • Plan and run camps, clinics, tryouts, and preseason programs.
- • Select, purchase, maintain, and issue balls, uniforms, and other gear.
- • Provide instruction, motivation, recovery guidance, and basic nutrition advice.
- • Teach soccer-related courses and advise student-athletes when applicable.
- • Communicate with parents or guardians about schedules, progress, and concerns.
- • Coordinate travel, lodging, and logistics for away matches; travel with the team.
- • Hire, supervise, and develop assistant coaches and support staff.
- • Maintain and review digital and video records of team, player, and opponent performance.
- • Counsel student-athletes on academic balance, conduct, and well-being.
- • Lead community outreach, media relations, and fundraising appearances.
- • Monitor academic eligibility and compliance for student-athletes.
- • Identify and recruit players through showcases, ID camps, and scouting; arrange visits and offers.
- • Oversee the program budget, purchasing, and fundraising activities.
