Description
Operate or tend bleaching equipment to whiten and clean textiles, yarns, paper pulp, or similar materials by removing color and impurities using chemical solutions.
- • Operate or tend bleaching ranges, vats, or jets to remove color and impurities from textiles, yarns, or pulp.
- • Add specified amounts of bleaching agents and auxiliaries to maintain target concentrations and pH.
- • Prepare and mix bleaching, scouring, and neutralizing solutions using scales and measuring tanks.
- • Monitor gauges, flow meters, and temperatures; adjust valves and controls to maintain recipe conditions.
- • Draw samples and test whiteness/brightness, pH, residual chemicals, or specific gravity for specification conformance.
- • Set cycle times, temperatures, liquor ratios, and mechanical actions; start pumps, agitators, and conveyors.
- • Load materials onto carriers, ropes, or conveyors for bleaching and unload after rinsing or neutralizing.
- • Drain, clean, and refill machines or chests at designated intervals, performing required rinse and neutralization steps.
- • Inspect equipment for leaks, foaming, or malfunctions and correct or report issues.
- • Record chemical usage, gauge readings, settings, processing times, lot numbers, and test results in production logs.
- • Clean, adjust, and lubricate equipment; replace screens, gaskets, or filters using hand tools.
