Description
Assist biological and medical scientists by setting up, operating, and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment; monitor experiments; collect samples and data; make observations; calculate, record, and report results. May analyze biological materials such as blood, food, and drugs.
- • Maintain detailed logs of all work activities.
- • Monitor lab work to ensure compliance with protocols and standards.
- • Isolate, identify, and prepare specimens for examination.
- • Use computers, instrument interfaces, robotics, and other high-tech tools to perform duties.
- • Assist in research, including collecting information and samples such as blood, water, soil, plants, and animals.
- • Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and field equipment.
- • Provide technical support to scientists and engineers in agriculture, environmental science, resource management, biology, and health sciences.
- • Clean, maintain, and prepare supplies and work areas.
- • Support research, development, or manufacturing of medicinal and pharmaceutical preparations.
- • Perform standardized biological, microbiological, or biochemical tests to evaluate the quality or quantity of substances in food or other products.
- • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare reports and summaries.
- • Measure and weigh compounds and solutions for testing or animal feed.
- • Monitor experiments and record production and test data for review by research staff.
- • Examine animals and specimens to detect disease or other issues.
- • Feed and care for livestock or laboratory animals.
- • Enter data into databases.
- • Order laboratory equipment and supplies.
