Description
Assist biochemists and medical scientists in laboratory research and quality testing. Set up, operate, and maintain biochemical instruments; prepare reagents and samples; monitor assays; collect and record data; and calculate results. May analyze proteins, enzymes, metabolites, and drugs in biological or pharmaceutical samples.
- • Keep detailed electronic lab notebooks of procedures, results, and deviations.
- • Monitor laboratory work to ensure compliance with GLP, SOPs, and safety standards.
- • Isolate, fractionate, and prepare biological samples for biochemical analysis.
- • Operate computer-controlled instruments and software for data acquisition and analysis.
- • Assist in biochemical research by collecting and processing samples such as blood, tissue, and cultured cells.
- • Set up, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot lab instruments such as spectrophotometers, HPLC/FPLC, and pH meters.
- • Provide technical support to biochemists in assay development and optimization.
- • Clean, sterilize, and organize benches, glassware, and consumables.
- • Support R&D or manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals by preparing reagents and performing in-process assays.
- • Perform standardized biochemical tests such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and enzyme kinetics assays.
- • Analyze experimental data, generate standard curves, and summarize results in reports.
- • Prepare buffers and solutions; weigh, measure, and adjust pH and concentrations.
- • Monitor experiments and record raw data and instrument logs for review and QA.
- • Inspect samples for contamination or degradation and document findings.
- • Maintain cell culture or microbial stocks as required for assays using aseptic technique.
- • Enter and manage data in LIMS or databases to ensure data integrity.
- • Manage inventory and place orders for reagents, consumables, and lab supplies.
