Description
Assist reproductive scientists and veterinarians in animal artificial breeding laboratories. Set up, operate, and maintain reproductive lab instruments; collect, process, evaluate, and cryopreserve gametes and embryos; monitor procedures; calculate, record, and interpret quality results; and prepare, label, store, and ship insemination or embryo doses while maintaining asepsis, biosecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • • Keep detailed logs of all collection, processing, QC, storage, and shipment activities.
  • • Monitor laboratory work to ensure compliance with SOPs, biosecurity, animal welfare, and regulatory standards.
  • • Collect, isolate, and prepare semen, oocytes, and embryos for examination and use.
  • • Operate computer-interfaced microscopes, CASA systems, straw printers, and programmable freezers.
  • • Assist in research and production by collecting samples and data for extenders, IVF, and embryo culture protocols.
  • • Set up, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot reproductive lab and cryogenic equipment.
  • • Provide technical support to reproductive scientists and veterinarians during collection, processing, and transfer procedures.
  • • Clean, disinfect, and prepare sterile work areas, media, and supplies.
  • • Prepare, cryopreserve, and package semen and embryos into labeled straws or vials.
  • • Conduct standardized motility, morphology, concentration, acrosome, and viability tests to assess gamete quality.
  • • Analyze QC data, calculate yields and post-thaw recovery, and draft batch records and summary reports.
  • • Weigh and measure chemicals to prepare media, buffers, extenders, and cryoprotectants.
  • • Monitor and document incubation, cooling, freezing, storage, and thawing parameters and outcomes.
  • • Screen specimens and donor records for contamination, pathogens, and traceability requirements.
  • • Maintain and monitor liquid nitrogen tanks and inventory and ensure safe handling.
  • • Enter collection, QC, and inventory data into LIMS or databases with full lot traceability.
  • • Place orders for equipment, media, disposables, and cryogenic supplies and coordinate shipment of straws or embryos.
