Description
Part-time faculty who teach assigned undergraduate biology courses, develop and deliver lectures and labs, assess learning, maintain records, and support student success. Collaborates with department staff, follows established curricula and policies, holds office hours, and stays current in the field.
  • • Teach assigned undergraduate biology lectures and labs in accordance with departmental curricula.
  • • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and lab activities.
  • • Develop syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments aligned with course outcomes.
  • • Administer and grade exams, quizzes, lab reports, and projects in a timely manner.
  • • Evaluate and record students' classwork, laboratory work, and participation.
  • • Maintain attendance, grades, and other required records in the learning management system.
  • • Hold posted office hours and provide course-related advising and academic support.
  • • Initiate and moderate classroom and online discussions to promote learning.
  • • Supervise student laboratory work and enforce lab safety protocols.
  • • Coordinate with lab coordinators and teaching assistants as assigned.
  • • Select or recommend textbooks, lab manuals, and instructional materials within program guidelines.
  • • Provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback to students.
  • • Revise course materials and teaching methods based on outcomes and student feedback.
  • • Stay current in biological sciences and evidence-based teaching practices through professional development.
  • • Ensure course alignment with departmental standards, accreditation requirements, and institutional policies.
  • • Submit midterm and final grades by published deadlines.
  • • Identify students needing additional support and refer them to campus resources.
  • • Participate in required orientations, trainings, and departmental meetings.
  • • Collaborate with full-time faculty on scheduling, assessment, and common assignments.
  • • Prepare and post course content, schedules, and announcements in the LMS.
  • • Organize course-related field activities or virtual alternatives when feasible and approved.
  • • Report lab equipment or safety issues and ensure proper use of materials.
  • • Support student recruitment or outreach events as requested.
  • • Uphold academic integrity, accessibility, and FERPA policies in all course activities.
