Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant and System Operators
Description
Monitor and control water and wastewater treatment and distribution processes via SCADA, adjusting setpoints, responding to alarms, coordinating field activities, and ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • • Monitor HMI screens, trends, and alarms to track flows, levels, pressures, and quality indicators.
  • • Remotely start and stop pumps and valves and adjust setpoints for chemical feed, filtration, aeration, and disinfection.
  • • Control chemical feed systems; calculate and update dosing rates to meet treatment and residual targets.
  • • Analyze SCADA data and lab inputs to optimize processes and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • • Acknowledge, prioritize, and escalate alarms; initiate corrective actions and notifications.
  • • Validate sensor and instrument readings; dispatch field checks and request calibration or maintenance when needed.
  • • Record operational data and events; prepare shift logs, trend reviews, and daily compliance reports.
  • • Perform routine SCADA housekeeping: verify communications, back up configurations, and report HMI/PLC issues to support.
